2301 Lombard Street

22 units are arranged in an “L” shaped building at the corner of Lombard and Pierce Street. The design explores the existing motel typology and movement along Lombard.  The building construction and massing explore layering and the disintegration of the building elements. The first floor is visually separated from the upper 3 levels; the concrete frame is articulated through the facade allowing the windows to run slab-slab; and the face of the slab edge is clad in a perforated metal panel of various heights - denser at the periphery and “taunt” at the corner.
